Japanese foods questions?
I need to know this information for a project about these Asian foods:
What does Miso soup taste like? How does Miso soup smell?
What does Sashimi taste and smell like?
What does Pickled Cucumber taste and smell like?
Well there are many different types of Miso (red miso and white miso) so each type of Miso changes the flavor of the Miso soup slightly. The ones you usually get in restaurants are all white miso. It’s hard to describe the exact words but it’s a tad on the salty side but very simple tasting. It smells just like miso which doesn’t have that strong of an odor. Also, like the person above said, miso soups typically come with cubes of tofu, and maybe even wakame which is seaweed but not exactly like nori..
Sashimi is simply raw fish and it doesn’t have much of a smell. It’s soft and slightly chewy and basically tastes like the fish. It doesn’t have a strong taste which is why it is put in soy sauce before you eat it.
Pickled cucumber is very salty. It’s juicy because to make this pickled cucumber, like the ones here, it is put in some sort of liquid to give it taste. It is a great additional side to rice and that’s how it is often eaten.
