chinese food restaurants
most chinese restaurants in the US sell americanized chinese food, then why are they real chinese working ther?

theres chinese people working in lots of them, like from china, not chinese ethnically but born in the US, so why do they serve that kind of food then? some of them must know how to cook real chinese food, doesnt it sell much? so they just sell what actually leaves money?

Actually, something all of the previous answerers failed to address is the immigration of the Chinese to the US during the 1840’s until present. It was at the time that Chinese came to America that they tried to sell authentic Chinese food to American customers but it wasn’t the success they had hoped for. So, the only way for them to integrate Chinese food into America was to adapt to American tastes, and that’s exactly what they did.

Actually, if you know where to look like I do, you can find those authentic Chinese restaurants that server authentic Chinese food. Actually, the other answerers also messed up another bit of information. Those workers working in the Americanized Chinese restaurants are family members or family friends, because most of those businesses are family owned businesses. Chinese families tend to stick together in business, and often restaurants get passed down like other businesses, too. I have many Chinese friends who started Americanized restaurants in America and they are all owned by Chinese people, and the workers there are family or friends.

The authentic restaurants I used to frequent before moving to China were peculiar because if they saw that you were Chinese, they had a Chinese menu with authentic food, but an American menu for the American tastes. I knew of the Chinese menu, and being that I speak, read and write Chinese, I ordered off the Chinese menu. But, honestly, I can tell you, most Americans would NOT be able to stomach real Chinese food simply because they eat so many things Americans would find disgusting, such as offals, and some strange variations of fruits and veggies.

Historically though, Chinese food was not always Americanized in America, until they realized that it wasn’t selling well, thus they had to adapt to their customer base. If you travel to Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, etc., they all have their own local variations of Chinese food.
