Japanese Rice Recipes
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cup Japanese rice
4 shiitake mushrooms
1/4 gobo (burdock root)
1/4 konnyaku
3 inches carrot
1/4 lb.boneless chicken thigh
1 tbsp sake
2 tbsp soy sauce / 1 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp mirin
1/2 tsp salt
Okay, in the Oriental or Exotic Foods isle at your grocery store, see if they have a package of dry Miso soup. If not, you can make it – well, without the Seaweed in it. For Miso, just get some Chicken Broth and then a package of Tofu and chop in some whole green onions. Cut the Tofu into squares and boil it in the chicken broth. If they have seaweed at your grocery store, get a small amount of that (optional) and put that in your soup while it boils.
Now, this other recipe for the rice, you should be able to get shitake mushrooms in the produce section (but if not, just use regular button mushrooms). And I don’t know about the burdock root and konnyaku and the mirin – I don’t know if those are easy to find where you are. IF you have an oriental market, just go there and you should be able to find all those ingredients.
Good luck.
