fermented miso
Why does soy keep getting promoted for vegetarians and vegans?

when its harmful effects are so well known to us now. I am talking about non-fermented soy foods like tofu, and fake meat products, not the good fermented soy products like tempeh and miso.

Every time I see somebody at the supermarket checkout putting soy milk and veggie dogs on the belt I have to hold back telling them about how it will eventually destroy their health. I hate to see people get scammed like that.

Why are people still eating and drinking that crap?
Pinky, tofu has not been a staple in China as it has become for vegans and vegetarians in the West. They also usually prepare it with some sort of sea vegetable, which offsets its mineral leaching properties. WE do not eat tofu like The Chinese have, therefore that is not a valid argument.
I see many of you don’t know the difference between healthy and harmful soy products. You need to do your research and stop assuming that in the 25 years or so I have been vegetarian that I have not done mine.

Hi – thank you for posting this question!! I have to agree with you. I am a vegetarian, and up until recently I purchased and used a lot of soy products – including soy milk and soy proteins (fake meat products). However, I have noticed that I’ve developed a bad soy allergy. And I no longer think soy is good for me (or anyone for that matter). My soy allergy was not causing severe anaphylaxis, but more like mild hives and eczema. It was also causing forgetfulness and brain fog. I could tell something was wrong internally. I did a test and haven’t eaten anything with soy for 30 days and guess what? No hives or eczema, and I feel a lot more coherent. I will say that it has been extremely hard to find food products that don’t have soy — everything these days seems to have soy protein, soy lecithin or soybean oil! Also, many things contain soy derivatives (Hydrolyzed plant protein (HPP), hydrolyzed soy protein (HSP), hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP)) and these should be avoided too. I have had to make everything from scratch but I think it is well worth it to ensure that I am not putting this toxin in my body. I feel that soy has negatively affected me and caused a hormone imbalance.

Here is an interesting video about the harmful effects of soy:

Again, thank you for your courage in making us all aware of this dangerous health risk.
